Doctor Strange (2016) **REVIEW**

Here we have another Marvel comic turned into a Hollywood movie, sometimes they nail it and sometimes they manage to disappoint the Marvel fans.

“Doctor Strange” is about, well a Doctor by the name of Stephen Strange an egotistical man who believes he’s the best in everything and people should bow down to him. Until one day he’s in a car crash, his surgical hands ruined by the crash. So you know the ego he got he will try everything to fix his hands even if he have to go absolutely broke to do it. He ends up in Katmandu learning the art of magic. And because of the man he is, he is expecting to have everything handed to him but he does end up studying and learning.

And of course the film got a bad guy, Kaecilius, he has a delusion of bringing the dark world into our world and thinking everything will be okay. So the other sorcerers have to work together to stop this man, it just won’t be so easy.

If you keep watching even after it ended you will see a scene with Doctor Strange and Thor having a conversation about…. well, have a look at the scene and see for yourself.

Actors: Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton and many more.

Spotlight (2015) **REVIEW**

A lot happened in 2001 that had the world shaken up. But there was one thing that happened in Boston that had the city shaken and then the country.

Spotlight is based on a true story on how Boston Globe uncovered a web of lies and child abuse within the Catholic Church. We follow 5 journalists and their work to uncover the truth. We see the ups and downs. The unwillingness if the church to cooperate, they rather sweep it under the rug, they prefer to put the priest in a different parish and have him doing it again and keep shoving him around rather than handle it as it should.

During their investigation one of the journalists find a priest living in his neighbourhood, a priest who’s on a list who molested children. How do you react to that? As they all are trying to keep their cool and find all documents they need and doing all the interviews they find themselves feeling heavy, losing sleep. As they find one lawyer who is willing to work with them and tell them how to find documents but the church will try and grab those documents before anyone else to bury it. People been trying to speak out before but church got to them first and asked them to keep quiet.

So it’s key for these journalists to work quietly so the piece will become bigger and they unravel as much as 90 priests in Boston alone who was under suspicion of child abuse. Their road is long and being there for the victims is key to the journalists to get the right story told.

Actors: Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, Brian d’Arcy James, Stanley Tucci, Gene Amoroso and many more.

Southpaw (2015) **REVIEW**

Southpaw is a dark and powerful drama that anyone should see. Jake Gyllenhaal is brilliant¬† as the boxer Billy Hope.¬† He is a pro boxer who’s great but forgotten why he starting boxing and forgot about his talent.

During a a fight after a charity with a rival there’s gunshots going around – Billy’s wife Maureen is hit and dies in his arms. Now Billy have to take care of their daughter, house and bills. But since Billy took his wife’s passing very hard he lost his daughter to social services, lost his house and is broke.

Billy tries his luck at a gym he used to train at when he was younger so get his life back and remember why he started boxing. He tries his hardest to see his daughter – Billy still got visitation rights but supervised. The owner at this gym, Tick,¬† where Billy trains gets him a job to clean the place up and he gets to train when he likes. During Billy’s time at this gym he gets a chance to do a charity boxing game and wants to go back to pro boxing. He gets his chance and wants Tick to train him, because he could train Billy differently.. During his training period he gets more and more chances to see his daughter unsupervised.

During his fight that happens in Vegas you can see how he all of the sudden fights differently. Before the accident of his wife he fight mean and ugly. Now – he fights smart. Billy gets a chance to come back to life and have his daughter again.

Southpaw is a film everyone should see. It’s emotional and powerful. Jake Gyllenhaal is absolutely brilliant and he could capture this boxer’s life perfectly. His daughter played by Oona Laurence did an outstanding job too. I admit I did cry at points because of these two actors had an amazing chemistry on screen.

You see actors like Jake Gyllenhaal, Oona Laurence, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, 50 Cent, Miguel Gomez, Naomie Harris and many more.
