Trainspotting 2 (2017) **REVIEW**

In the first ‘Trainspotting’ film we see the life on a few drug addicts in the 90’s and how desperate one of them wanted out to live a normal life but each time, his old life comes knocking on his door and pull him back. Til he rips his friends off, steal money they earned doing a deal and fled to Amsterdam to get his life up on track. And he managed to do so.

‘Trainspotting 2’ takes place about 20 years, same gang, different scenarios or trying to. Renton comes back to Scotland to see his old friends. But he isn’t as welcomed as he might have thought. His friends want their money back but after a fist fight or two, Renton goes into business with Simon who runs a different business but they need money. So they apply for a small business start up grant to their idea running. Spud is trying to stay clean, he doesn’t see his son, his girlfriend left, no money or anything, he tries to kill himself. Renton walks in and saves him, telling him, he need a new outlet, like a new addiction. But someone tells Spud ‘Why don’t you start writing your words down?’ And he writes and writes. Now, one big problem is coming back for the guys – Begbie. He finds a way out of prison and hears Renton is back in  town. And we all know Begbie will be coming for him like never before. But the question here is, we all know the guys will get the money but.. will they actually get the money? Who will runs off with it?

‘Trainspotting 2’ is definitely a film everyone need to see but to see it don’t forget to see the first film if you haven’t seen it. Both films are incredibly good and original. Something you don’t see often. Get your popcorn ready and get ready for some quality original drama.

Actors: Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Steven Robertson, Ewan Brenner, Gordon Kennedy, Jonny Lee Miller and many more.

Patriots Day (2016) **REVIEW**

We all know the tragic events that happened in Boston, U.S in April 2013 during a marathon. I can never forget the images that was shown on the news and in news papers. I live in Europe, have been for all my life but seeing event and people who lost their lives, it can’t be described.

‘Patriots Day’ takes you behind the scenes of that day. We get to see the police investigation and get to know the officers and their resilience into finding these men. All it took and the injured along the way, there was no stopping the officers. The men doing the deed probably thought they where never going to be caught and kept being outside and driving around, shooting others and kidnapping others like it’s no big deal. It makes you think – what are people really capable of when twisted enough!?

What inspired me with ‘Patriots Day’ was anyone can come together when in need and nothing is impossible long as you work together as a team. In the end of the film we get to see the victims and in their words describe what was going through their mind.

Actors: Mark Wahlberg, Rhet Kidd, John Goodman, Christopher O’Shea, Rachel Brosnahan, Jake Picking and many more.

Logan (2017) **REVIEW**

One of the most anticipated films of 2017 for “Wolverine” fans must be “Logan”. The last film of the series where we get to meet Logan once again but for the final time. It’s a bittersweet film, where there aren’t much laughter but a lot of sadness and anger that comes with the film.

It’s 2029 and mutants are a mere distant memory for the world, there haven’t been a mutant born in 25 years. Logan is still around with Charles Xavier, who’s now suffering from dementia. A mental illness in the world most dangerous brain. Logan is a chauffeur, driving a limo. And you can tell something isn’t right with him, he seem sick. But one day a lady shows up out of nowhere wanting help, but Logan turns her down, until one day he decides to listen. She want him to help a little girl to come to a mutant camp that’s safe, Eden if you will. This girl has been genetically altered by same company who altered Logan’s DNA. But this girl, she’s isn’t just any random DNA altered mutant, they took Logan’s DNA and she is… his daughter.

So now obviously is a race against time so the mercenaries won’t find them and the little girl he’s helping is quite the badass when she fights. She’s the mutant with two claws coming out of her hands and one from each foot.

Actors: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant Elizabeth Rodriguez and many more.

Nocturnal Animals (2016) **REVIEW**

I’m not exactly sure what to say or how to describe this film. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But I felt it would have been much better with it was one story and not two flowing into one. Let me explains!

“Noturnal Animals” is about Susan and Edward getting married very young but split up quit quickly, and 20 years after the breakup Susan get’s a package from Edward, a book he wrote called Nocturnal Animals and dedicated it to her. As she is reading the book we see flashes from the book and what it’s about. That story is much better than sort of seeing Susan reading it. So if they would have just called it Nocturnal Animals and let us see the events from the book and ending it with her reading it. But when Edward sent her the book he also sent with a small letter, asking to meet her while he’s town and she agrees after reading first part of the book.

Maybe it’s just me. The film itself was very good and powerful is any shape and form and would recommend to anyone who would like to see it. Just keep in mind, it can be a bit slow and picks up better when we see the scenes that play out from the book Edward wrote. We see snippets from Susan’s life but nothing too exciting.

Actors: Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Aaron Tylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Ellie Bamber, Armie Hammer and many more.

American Pastoral (2016) **REVIEW**

To see something like the this film will affect you in some way. “American Pastoral” is about a father who will never give up his daughter who went missing after a bombing who killed a dear friend of the family. You will rethink your life and wonder why wasn’t my parents this dedicated like this father was to his daughter and refused to give up hope!?

“American Pastoral” is about a former high school football star, married a beauty queen from Jersey. She’s Christian and he’s Jewish and yet they married and had a gorgeous little girl. You can tell from her childhood she will grow up to be trouble, and not the good kind. When she’s 16 she is speaking up about the Vietnamese war and how many people are being killed daily over there… And before you know it, she’s a prime suspect in a bombing in her small hometown and now she’s on the run. Her father spent years trying to find her, FBI is looking for her too. One day he does find her, but.. is it the same sweet little girl he raised? And what about his wife, how well is she taking all of this? Missing daughter and also a suspect in several bombings around USA. Well, like most, she snaps.

“American Pastoral” is a drama that will strike you in the heart and make you angry all at once, frustrating teenager who keeps throwing tantrums because she won’t get her way. Over all, the film is fantastic and Ewan McGregor playing the father does a phenomenal acting, he will wow you. He never disappoints me. We see Dakota Fanning as the daughter and I’m glad to see her back in the films recently and she is just as good portraying this troubled girl.

Actors: Ewan McGregor, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Connelly, Peter Reigert, Uzo Aduba, Rupert Evans, Molly Parker, Valorie Curry and many more.

Live By Night (2016) **REVIEW**

Ben Affleck have always been one of those actors who have been mediocre for me but after I saw The Accountant he truly did change my mind and he did NOT disappoint in Live By Night that he directed and Leonardo DiCaprio was a co-producer on.

Live By Night is about Joe, Joseph, a man from Boston who came home from a war and promised himself that he would never follow any orders anymore and became an outlaw. Early 1920’s being an outlaw or being poor was the options so you could make money. He had two friends that he did robberies with around town, and a girlfriend who was also the girlfriend of a powerful mafia boss that Joe was associated with. Until one evening when the boss finds out about their relationship, Joe gets a beating and before he was about to get taken away, his father shows up – who’s a high up police officer. Earlier Joe had been involved in a robbery gone wrong and few police officers were killed, Joe gets arrested  but he didn’t kill the cops, his friends did so he got 3 years for robbery.

When Joe comes out of prison he is ready to start over, he starts working with the Italian mafia and takes over the Florida affairs. He’s in charge of the making of rum. This was during prohibition so his crew was making alcohol and selling it in bars out on the woods. Everything was going nicely until the KKK shows up and starts a war and Joe need to handle.

And also during Joe taking care of the Florida alcohol making he also falls in love with his partners sister. First thinking it will only be a fling but it blows into a full on relationship and marriage.

But here’s the thing, will Joe be able to handle his crew and run things and keep his girl happy? At the same time living in threat of KKK, who is making threats to Joe’s business and to kill his girl.

Live By Night was surprisingly good and I was in awe of Ben Affleck’s amazing acting and the script was superb. I was on the edge of my set for the entire duration of the film and I’d say go and see it soon as you can. It will not disappoint you in any way. The film does contain strong language that some might find offensive with strong violence and sexual scenes.

Actors: Ben Affleck, Elle Fanning, Remo Girone, Brendan Gleeson, Robert Glenister, Matthew Maher, Chris Messina, Siena Miller, Zoe Saldana and many more.

The Accountant (2016) **REVIEW**

When it comes to films about autism it can’t be easy to nail it but The Accountant did. You see the struggle of human contact and eye contact, simple things in life which are difficult for him.

Christian Wolff by day is a accountant and is hired by a company to look into some books to see if anyone is stealing money. But by night he is someone else, he isn’t a ordinary accountant.

After an entire night of looking into the books he discover the problem with the help from a female accountant. So now everyone who had a look at the books and numbers and made the connection, are now being hunted. So who sent these guys to kill the people? Christian Wolff is now hunting the guys who tried to kill the female accountant, the he feel something for. And having feelings for someone and do what you do for a living, maybe not the best idea.

As a child Christian was often called a freak due to his autism. His father taught him to fight, shoot a gun and defend himself and people he love. He even went into the army. Meet someone in prison that made him into what he is today. So how dangerous can an accountant be?

The accountant is a action filled film with Ben Affleck in the lead role as Christian Wolff. I didn’t think he would be good in this role but he is. He surprised me with his performance.

Actors: Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, John Lithgow and many more.
