Going in Style (2017) **REVIEW**

When you think about three old timers, three legendary actors starring in same film you’d think it would be a film about some old people being sassy and best friends. How about you think again?

Willie, Joe & Albert and three best friends and pensioners doing everything together, even watching Batchorlette. They are quite adorable together. One day they find out that the steel plant they worked at all their lives are going bankrupt so their pensions are being stopped and all of a sudden, they are about to lose their houses and everything. So.. Joe comes up with an idea after an experience he had at his bank; “how about he rob a bank?”. Yeah like that is going to make it all better? But after a few arguments these old chaps go for it.

They reach out to Joe’s daughters ex-husband who know some people who could possibly help with the preparation of the heist. So much planning and accuracy goes into to the entire thing because we don’t want to get caught right? It’s one wild and stupid plan we got here, will they pull it off?

It’s a really funny film with some of the acting worlds most prestigious and legendary actors. We see Morgan Freeman, Michael Cain, Alan Arkin & Christopher Lloyd. Chris sort of plays this pensioner who showing signs of dementia but delivers the one way he only knows how: funny. He is a key person in the chaps story for them to get away with the robbery.

“Going in Style” won’t disappoint you, it’s filled with laugher and all smiles. I say go for it when you are having a bad day, it will cheer you up.

Actors: Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Christopher Lloyd, John Ortiz, Matt Dillon, Joey King and many more.

Netflix Original: The 101 Year Old Man Who Skipped Out on the Bill and Disappeared (2016) **REVIEW**

‘The 101 Year Old Man Who Skipped Out on the Bill and Disappeared’ is a comedy coming from Sweden and I found it the other day on Netflix and talk I was happy. As some of you might not know I’m born and raised in Sweden so comedy was a huge part of my life since it’s part of our culture. The main character is a huge comedy actor and one my favorite from home.

‘The 101 Year Old Man Who Skipped Out on the Bill and Disappeared’ is about a man called Allan Karlsson who was a spy for the Russians and Americans during Cold War. He developed something called Folksoda and now people are looking for him to get the recipe.  So Allan and his friend goes from Bali where the film begins to go to Berlin to pick up the recipe for the Folksoda but ends up in Russia first to then take a train to Berlin. On the plane from Bali to Berlin Allan’s pet friend monkey went into his bag and he got out in the plane caused panic and had to get off in Russia.

So, when it gets out in the world that Allan is alive and Russian woman living in Sweden goes after him (her father worked with Allan during Cold War) and then a British man also goes after him. So when  Allan and his friend travels around to find the recipe to only find it.. well.. not in Berlin. It’s quite funny one and one of my favorite actors – Robert Gustafson – playing Allan. Loved every bit of it.

It’s a Netflix Original film, got happy to find it on the British one, so have a look on your Netflix and see if they added it in your country. Keep in mind – it’s in Swedish so it’s subtitled.

Actors: Robert Gustafsson, Crystal the Monkey, Caroline Boulton, Jens Hulten, Colin McFarlane, Joseph Long, David Schaal, David Wiberg, Georg Nikoloff and many more.

The Fate of the Furious (2017) **REVIEW**

We all have heard about or seen all or some of the ‘Fast & Furious’ movie series. The toll is now up to 8 films and this one is smacked with different stars. They even have a actor from Game of Thrones.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ is just a action packed film with explosions. We got the regular gang trying to fight one of their own this time who is working together with a infamous cyber terrorist called Cipher. She is one crazy bitch, if I may say.  We get to see Elena again, the woman Dom had a relationship with in Rio when he thought Letty was dead. And she comes with a surprise one that makes Dom betray his own family and wife to go work for a terrorist.

This being the 8th installment of the film it’s so predictable, we all know the ending. Happy ending, all is well. I’d like to see one ending where it doesn’t end well, something different.

Actors: Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Kristofer Hivju, Ludacris, Luke Evans, Nathalie Emmanuel and many more.

John Wick; Chapter 2 (2017) **REVIEW**

Keanu Reeves is back with his role as the assassin John Wick and this one is a little bit different from the first one. And how you may ask? Well, in the first John goes after the man who stole his car day after this wifes funeral, second film he’s being targeted.

“John Wick: Chapter 2” starts with John finding his car that vanished and of course he gets it back but he have to send it for repairs at Romans. As he is home  he gets a knock on the door, a man named Santino want him to take a contract, obviously John don’t want to and that doesn’t sit well with the Italian. So John’s house goes boom. So now he got no choice but to take the contract, it leads him to Rome to kill Santino’s sister for a seat at a board that she got after their father passed. But as John is about to leave Rome, some ties need to be tied and John leaves with a $7 million USD prize on his head so when he’s back in NYC, shit is about to hit the fan. John’s biggest challenge yet, he need to find Santino, but he is heavily guarded.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a third film would come out soon by how it ended and it ended interesting as hell and John Wick is against the clock. “John Wick: Chapter 2” is more violent than the first, it’s more vibrating and it will keep you on the edge of your seat for 2hours. If you are a fan of the first John Wick film, then I would recommend seeing the second one.

Actors: Keanu Reeves, Riccardo Scamarcio, Ian Mcshane, Ruby Rose, Lance Reddick, Common, John Leguizamo, Thomas Sadoski and many more.

American Pastoral (2016) **REVIEW**

To see something like the this film will affect you in some way. “American Pastoral” is about a father who will never give up his daughter who went missing after a bombing who killed a dear friend of the family. You will rethink your life and wonder why wasn’t my parents this dedicated like this father was to his daughter and refused to give up hope!?

“American Pastoral” is about a former high school football star, married a beauty queen from Jersey. She’s Christian and he’s Jewish and yet they married and had a gorgeous little girl. You can tell from her childhood she will grow up to be trouble, and not the good kind. When she’s 16 she is speaking up about the Vietnamese war and how many people are being killed daily over there… And before you know it, she’s a prime suspect in a bombing in her small hometown and now she’s on the run. Her father spent years trying to find her, FBI is looking for her too. One day he does find her, but.. is it the same sweet little girl he raised? And what about his wife, how well is she taking all of this? Missing daughter and also a suspect in several bombings around USA. Well, like most, she snaps.

“American Pastoral” is a drama that will strike you in the heart and make you angry all at once, frustrating teenager who keeps throwing tantrums because she won’t get her way. Over all, the film is fantastic and Ewan McGregor playing the father does a phenomenal acting, he will wow you. He never disappoints me. We see Dakota Fanning as the daughter and I’m glad to see her back in the films recently and she is just as good portraying this troubled girl.

Actors: Ewan McGregor, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Connelly, Peter Reigert, Uzo Aduba, Rupert Evans, Molly Parker, Valorie Curry and many more.

Live By Night (2016) **REVIEW**

Ben Affleck have always been one of those actors who have been mediocre for me but after I saw The Accountant he truly did change my mind and he did NOT disappoint in Live By Night that he directed and Leonardo DiCaprio was a co-producer on.

Live By Night is about Joe, Joseph, a man from Boston who came home from a war and promised himself that he would never follow any orders anymore and became an outlaw. Early 1920’s being an outlaw or being poor was the options so you could make money. He had two friends that he did robberies with around town, and a girlfriend who was also the girlfriend of a powerful mafia boss that Joe was associated with. Until one evening when the boss finds out about their relationship, Joe gets a beating and before he was about to get taken away, his father shows up – who’s a high up police officer. Earlier Joe had been involved in a robbery gone wrong and few police officers were killed, Joe gets arrested  but he didn’t kill the cops, his friends did so he got 3 years for robbery.

When Joe comes out of prison he is ready to start over, he starts working with the Italian mafia and takes over the Florida affairs. He’s in charge of the making of rum. This was during prohibition so his crew was making alcohol and selling it in bars out on the woods. Everything was going nicely until the KKK shows up and starts a war and Joe need to handle.

And also during Joe taking care of the Florida alcohol making he also falls in love with his partners sister. First thinking it will only be a fling but it blows into a full on relationship and marriage.

But here’s the thing, will Joe be able to handle his crew and run things and keep his girl happy? At the same time living in threat of KKK, who is making threats to Joe’s business and to kill his girl.

Live By Night was surprisingly good and I was in awe of Ben Affleck’s amazing acting and the script was superb. I was on the edge of my set for the entire duration of the film and I’d say go and see it soon as you can. It will not disappoint you in any way. The film does contain strong language that some might find offensive with strong violence and sexual scenes.

Actors: Ben Affleck, Elle Fanning, Remo Girone, Brendan Gleeson, Robert Glenister, Matthew Maher, Chris Messina, Siena Miller, Zoe Saldana and many more.

The Accountant (2016) **REVIEW**

When it comes to films about autism it can’t be easy to nail it but The Accountant did. You see the struggle of human contact and eye contact, simple things in life which are difficult for him.

Christian Wolff by day is a accountant and is hired by a company to look into some books to see if anyone is stealing money. But by night he is someone else, he isn’t a ordinary accountant.

After an entire night of looking into the books he discover the problem with the help from a female accountant. So now everyone who had a look at the books and numbers and made the connection, are now being hunted. So who sent these guys to kill the people? Christian Wolff is now hunting the guys who tried to kill the female accountant, the he feel something for. And having feelings for someone and do what you do for a living, maybe not the best idea.

As a child Christian was often called a freak due to his autism. His father taught him to fight, shoot a gun and defend himself and people he love. He even went into the army. Meet someone in prison that made him into what he is today. So how dangerous can an accountant be?

The accountant is a action filled film with Ben Affleck in the lead role as Christian Wolff. I didn’t think he would be good in this role but he is. He surprised me with his performance.

Actors: Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, John Lithgow and many more.
