Ben Affleck have always been one of those actors who have been mediocre for me but after I saw The Accountant he truly did change my mind and he did NOT disappoint in Live By Night that he directed and Leonardo DiCaprio was a co-producer on.
Live By Night is about Joe, Joseph, a man from Boston who came home from a war and promised himself that he would never follow any orders anymore and became an outlaw. Early 1920’s being an outlaw or being poor was the options so you could make money. He had two friends that he did robberies with around town, and a girlfriend who was also the girlfriend of a powerful mafia boss that Joe was associated with. Until one evening when the boss finds out about their relationship, Joe gets a beating and before he was about to get taken away, his father shows up – who’s a high up police officer. Earlier Joe had been involved in a robbery gone wrong and few police officers were killed, Joe gets arrested but he didn’t kill the cops, his friends did so he got 3 years for robbery.
When Joe comes out of prison he is ready to start over, he starts working with the Italian mafia and takes over the Florida affairs. He’s in charge of the making of rum. This was during prohibition so his crew was making alcohol and selling it in bars out on the woods. Everything was going nicely until the KKK shows up and starts a war and Joe need to handle.
And also during Joe taking care of the Florida alcohol making he also falls in love with his partners sister. First thinking it will only be a fling but it blows into a full on relationship and marriage.
But here’s the thing, will Joe be able to handle his crew and run things and keep his girl happy? At the same time living in threat of KKK, who is making threats to Joe’s business and to kill his girl.
Live By Night was surprisingly good and I was in awe of Ben Affleck’s amazing acting and the script was superb. I was on the edge of my set for the entire duration of the film and I’d say go and see it soon as you can. It will not disappoint you in any way. The film does contain strong language that some might find offensive with strong violence and sexual scenes.
Actors: Ben Affleck, Elle Fanning, Remo Girone, Brendan Gleeson, Robert Glenister, Matthew Maher, Chris Messina, Siena Miller, Zoe Saldana and many more.
When it comes to films about autism it can’t be easy to nail it but The Accountant did. You see the struggle of human contact and eye contact, simple things in life which are difficult for him.
Christian Wolff by day is a accountant and is hired by a company to look into some books to see if anyone is stealing money. But by night he is someone else, he isn’t a ordinary accountant.
After an entire night of looking into the books he discover the problem with the help from a female accountant. So now everyone who had a look at the books and numbers and made the connection, are now being hunted. So who sent these guys to kill the people? Christian Wolff is now hunting the guys who tried to kill the female accountant, the he feel something for. And having feelings for someone and do what you do for a living, maybe not the best idea.
As a child Christian was often called a freak due to his autism. His father taught him to fight, shoot a gun and defend himself and people he love. He even went into the army. Meet someone in prison that made him into what he is today. So how dangerous can an accountant be?
The accountant is a action filled film with Ben Affleck in the lead role as Christian Wolff. I didn’t think he would be good in this role but he is. He surprised me with his performance.
Actors: Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, John Lithgow and many more.
When it comes to seeing Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne I was skeptical and even after watching this film I was skeptical. I mean, is Ben Affleck really a good choice for Batman? He did good acting but somehow I am still conflicted. What didn’t disappoint me though was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. He gave a different version of him and he did it spectacular.
While the world is wondering what kind of hero it needs Batman aka Bruce Wayne is wondering if Superman is good or if he is just another criminal. He is trying to find a way to damage Superman, to kill him. While we are seeing Lex Luthor is in the space shit we saw in Man of Steel and basically playing God. We can see how Luthor is slowly losing his mind.
How will Batman take on Superman without getting killed himself? He finds a way and takes on Superman. But Superman only wants Batman’s help to find his mother, who has the same name was Bruce’s mother had. So will Superman be able to convince Batman in battle that the real enemy here actually is Lex Luthor and he needs his help. As Lex took Superman’s mother and also planning something sinister for Metropolis.
We see two cameos in this film: Aquaman & Wonder Woman. As we know those films are coming next year and Wonder Woman is looking quite good, I’d suggest check out the Comic Con one on youtube.
Actors: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Gal Gadot, Scoot McNairy and many more.
I hope my readers had an amazing Christmas & New Years. I know I was away during this time, just been spending it with my husband and been doing absolutely nothing. Now I am ready for a new year and more movies to write about for you to read about.
Gone Girl, I always wanted to see this movie. And when I got the chance to see it I took it. In the beginning of this movie we get to see their relationship, how they meet and how happy they seemed. Nick and Amy, two people seemed happy. We also see Nick in a bar that he owns with his sister and they talk about Amy. When Nick gets back to the house, it looks clean and all but a table is broken and Amy isn’t there. He calls the police and they look around the house. So Nick gets taken downtown for DNA and questions. He spends the night as his sisters place and while he is there, his house the crawling with police searching the house for clues. They discover everything is in her name, the house, car, credit card, bar.
And then the question pops up – what happened to Amy? Where is she? Did she got murdered? Kidnapped? Or did she go missing voluntary? Did Nick do it? During the film we see small factors what made him hate his wife, wasn’t their relationship just as good as it seemed to be. He tells half truths or half lies, depends how you’d like to see it. But the plot twist – watch the film and notice your jaw DROP!
You see actors like Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens, Lisa Banes and many more. Before you ask me “have you read the book?” No, haven’t, not yet. But I am planning on reading it.
