Remember when ‘Prometheus’ was released? You could say this is a follow-up. A ship is out in space towards a new colony, they need to be in sleep for about 14 years. But something happens 7 years in their sleep, some of the crew members get waken and now they have to fix the ship. Because on board they have about 2.000 colonisers and 1150 embryos.
But during repairs they pick up a signal, a song from earth. So they decide to locate the signal and they find someone who’s been missing for 10 years. A scientist named Elizabeth Shaw from the ship Prometheus. They find the robot, David, she was traveling with and now they have to fight for their lives. As some sort of mist goes in their bodies and few seconds to minutes later something claws it’s way out of the host body and start chasing down other humans.
‘Alien: Covenant’ made people skeptical but after seeing it, it’s actually quite good. Got scares moment and it’s gory as… if you appreciate the ‘Alien’ franchise I’d say you would most likely like this one. We get to find out what happened to Dr Shaw, since last time we saw her she left a planet in a ship to go after someone, been a while since I saw ‘Prometheus’ so I think I’ll have to see it again.

At one point or another we have all heard about the horror film ‘Mirrors’ but how many of you have seen it? Sure, it can freak you out based on the fact it’s about something vicious coming from another realm and using the mirrors as a gateway.
Ben Carson is a police officer who are currently suspended pending investigation after a altercation gone bad. He takes a security guard job at a burned down department store. But shortly he is experiencing some weird things going on, noises and flash images in mirrors. After ignoring it his sister, who is currently living with, turn up dead in the bathtub with her jaw basically pulled from her face. Extremely brutal. He goes back to ask what they want from him, knowing a evil spirit from his new job did it. They tell him they want someone called ‘Esseker’ and now there is a chase to find out who that is. And slowly Ben is starting to lose his mind and scaring remaining people in his life away. So exactly how is Ben going to solve this? Well, he need to use his police experience for this one to find out what truly is going on.
Is ‘Mirrors’ as scary today as it was back when it was released? Well, it got it scares but if you look at the storyline and script the movie is really something else, they don’t make horrors/thrillers like these anymore.
Actors: Keifer Sutherland, Paula Patton, Cameron Boyce, Erica Gluck, Amy Smart, Mary Beth Pell, John Shrapnel and many more.
When it comes to horror so much is a bit of a disappointment today, none of it gets you scared but it got jumps but misses the point of horror. I came across ‘The Unfolding’ on Netflix the other day and I thought why not, because I had nothing better to do at that time, I went in with little expectations but left with a fast beating heart and feeling creeped out.
‘The unfolding’ is about a couple who goes to a house who are believed to be haunted, when they arrive another couple was already there but they decided to leave because they didn’t like what the house was doing. But they shook it off and started to set up the cameras. First night goes and everything seemed fine, til they got to the kitchen and everything was on the floor and the cutlery was STUCK on the wall. And then voices came. But it seemed gentle. Until their friend showed up and more activity started. Soon they get to see a reality from a local story about the house; a man took in his niece after her parents died, from the age of 8 til 18 he sexually abused her and on several occassions she gave birth to stillborn babies, those who wasn’t stillborn – got burned alive.
Creepy story right? ‘The Unfolding’ left me happily surprised when it came to creepy factor. I was home alone middle of night when I saw this and as you know, watching a horror when you are alone, your head plays tricks on you. I would 100% recommend this any horror fan.
It’s a found footage type of film, which some have problems with but give it a chance. Also, this film takes place during fall of 2016 and the world is about to hit a nuclear war.
Actors: Robert Dawes, Nick Julian, Lisa Kerr, Kitty McGeever, Lachlan Nieboer.
When it comes to films about aliens it can either be a hit or a serious miss. It’s difficult to make something like this good. Because there are so many alien films out there already so most have already been done! When I saw the trailer for ‘Life’ I was skeptical, it didn’t seem too good but I took a chance and thought maybe it could be good.
We got a team of scientist floating in space in an International Space Station looking for life in space, one day they find something and people back on Earth rejoices. The scientist begin to poke and prod on the creature, it seems cute because of its size. But you know, looks can be VERY deceiving though. One day they prodded it too far and it started to fight back. It grabs one of the scientist hand and breaks it, really uncomfortable too see. There is something about this life form that will creep you out – more people it kills and feeds on – yep feeds on – the bigger it gets and it can get terrifying. Now the scientist are fighting for their life and every trick they tried to kill the creature, it didn’t work, just made it more angry.
‘Life’ had it surprises, both good and bad one. I’ve seen very split reviews about ‘Life’ but I got creeped out by it. It isn’t like other alien films, I felt that this one is more realistic than the other alien films out there. And I would recommend it to anyone who would like to see it. It’s not too bad actually.
Actors: Hiroyuki Sanada, Ryan Reynolds, Rebecca Ferguson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare, Jesus Del Orden and many more.
When it comes to horror films I love watching them and if they come off as weird, I will like them even more and I will find them intriguing, I will stay with it until the end to find out what really was going on.
‘Get Out’ is about a man called Chris going to see his girlfriends parents for the first time, his girlfriend Rose who is white and Chris is not. But that doesn’t stop them. But what Chris doesn’t know is that something sinister and weird is about to happen while he is at his girlfriends parent’s house. Her parents got two people working for them, two people of color but they seem – off. Chris gets suspicious but doesn’t say anything to begin with. Rose’s parents
‘Get Out’ is a horror/mystery film, a very talked about one. People got mixed feelings about it but all I can say it, it’s best to watch something for yourself and get your own opinion about something. But the end 0f the film, actually makes it all to make some sense and you will start going ‘Oohh’. I liked the ending and how they made ‘Get Out’. It will give you the creeps but it’s so worth it.
Actors: Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Betty Gabriel, Stephen Root, Ashley LeConte Campbell and many more.
So it’s been a while since the last Underworld and when I heard another one was coming out I was so excited. Expectations was high and then, at last, it’s here. It’s out and…. fail.
‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ contains the usual blood and gore and fight within the house and clan, backstabbing and no one trusts anyone. But what I found interesting, we finally get to know in this film who David’s mom is and that was the highlight of the film, at least to me. There’s nothing special about this ‘Underworld’ film. Everyone wants to know where Selene’s and Michael’s daughter is, everyone wants to find her and use her for her special powers. So Selene is a very hot topic on many mouths. We also get to see what happened to Michael, we didn’t see him in the film before ‘Blood Wars’.
For me, the most impressive thing about the film was Kate’s ability to still rock that bodysuit and kick ass as she always does. Effects was cool but nothing special. Felt like it was the same story but different situation. But if you are a fan of the ‘Underworld’ franchise don’t let my opinion scare you off, see it and just see for yourself what you think of it..
Actors: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, Tobias Menzies, Lara Pulver, Charles Dance, James Faulkner, Peter Andersson, Bradley James and many more.
We all remember “Blade”, the half vampire – half human man who hunts and kills vampires. “Blade” was the absolute best films back in the day during Wesley Snipes glory days before he got arrested. The “Blade” franchise have three films out and, in my opinion, the first and second film is the ones that are the greatest.
When the film starts we see Blade in action, he is hunting vampires but they got something in store for him. They set him up and films when he kills a human dressed up as a vampire, sends it in to the police and now he is a wanted man. As they try to make an arrest, Whistler gets caught in the cross fire. But all of this is just a set up made by the vampires to get Daywalker off the streets. But we all know how well that is going to work, since we all know, Blade got friends everywhere and people who want to help him.
In this film, Blade fights an enemy he haven’t met before but we all know by legend and stories; Dracula. Or most known as the first.
I’m a huge fan of the “Blade” franchise and have been since I was old enough to watch them. So I might be partial when I say I’d recommend the franchise to anyone. But I would also say skip the second, it’s a bit dull.
Actors: Wesley Snipes, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Kris Kristofferson, Dominic Purcell, Parker Posey, John Michael Higgins and many more.
