Where we talk about movies & TV-shows

When it comes to horror being made 2014-2016 they are slow and not scary. So I didn’t have high hopes for The Forest but I really did want to see it. But I really got happily surprised when I saw it. It didn’t have the regular scare effects made by a computer. You felt the scare from Natalie Dormer’s acting alone and she did a superb job.

Sara gets a phone call from a detective from Tokyo where her twin sister lives – Jess. Jess works as an English teacher in a school for teenagers. The detective saying her sister Jess have gone missing and the school is fearing that she might have ended up killing herself in the notorious suicide forest in Japan. Sara wants answers and want to find her sister. She gets help from a guide who regularly goes into the forest to keep people from committing suicide and removing bodies, and with a travel journalist.

The guide warns Sara for going into the forest, because it can play tricks on you. Specially when you are sad. You are the most vulnerable. But Sara goes in anyway and is dead set on finding her sister. But… the forest does play tricks on her after all. It’s up to her to sort out what’s real and what’s not real.

This film was based on a video game with the title: Fatal Frame. And I’ve seen a few interviews with Natalie Dormer when she speaks about the film and if you click here you’ll go straight to youtube to see one.

You see actors like Natalie Dormer, Eoin Macken, Stephanie Vogt, Taylor Kinney,  Yukiyoshi Ozawa.
