Ever since I heard about this film I wanted to see it and I got the chance this weekend. And let me tell you – it’s not disappointing.
Chappie takes place in Johannesburg and crime is high, but when Deon a intelligent engineer made police robots – souts crime fell and everyone was alot safer. Everyone is pleased with Deons work and alot is expected of him but there is someone who doesn’t like him and his work – Vincent. Because Vincent makes robots too but people feel like those robots wouldn’t be a good fit. Basically those robots would benefit the military.
One evening Deon invents something exciting and new – new race of AI. This AI can speak and act like a human. Have human feelings and thoughts. So he puts this AI in a robot and calls him Chappie. But in the beginning Chappie is more of a child and you have to teach him from right and wrong. But there’s this gang who wants Chappie for other purposes than to letting it help society to grow.
Chappie learns how to make weapons and become tough. While his creator – Deon wants him to focus on arts, engineering etc. But one day Chappie learns how to put his consciousness into a computer because he needs a new body.
It’s an amazing story about a robot and you will laugh, cry and ask “WTF?”. And Hugh Jackman (Vincent) plays this bad guy and in interviews he said it was fun to play someone who wasn’t all good, someone who was selfish. And he was good at it too.
You see actors like Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Yo-Landi visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver and many more.
