We Are The Best (2013) **REVIEW**

This is a film who’s been getting a lot of attention from critics and I can see why. Not always you see a film that actually catches a teenage girls life. Not the Hollywood kind but the “real”.

We Are The Best is a Swedish film (so if you don’t know it, make sure you see it with subtitles) about three girls in the age of 13 & 14 in 1982 in Stockholm. The film starts with 2 girls liking punk and everyone keeps telling them that punk is dead. But that doesn’t stop them from liking punk and wanting to start a punk band. They find their third member at the schools talent show. Sure this girl is Christian and her mother isn’t really liking these girls. Specially when they cut her hair very short and she threaten to report them to the police for allegedly forced her to cut her hair short. But when it comes to the hierarchy in the group, there will always be that one who’s bossy and tells everyone what to do. Sure, the girls will have a fall out but they will always come back to each other.

We see ordinary lives of three teenage girls liking boys and causing mayhem wherever they go. They keep hearing how ugly they are but that doesn’t seem to stop them, long as they have each other they don’t care.

You see actors like Mira Barkhammar, Mira Grosin, Liv LeMoyne, Johan Liljemark, Mattias Wiberg, Jonathan Salomonsson and many more.
